Top Ten Tuesday; Favourite Book Quotes

It's Tuesday, which means it's time for another Top Ten Tuesday post, courtesy of That Artsy Reader Girl. The theme of the week was favourite book quotes, either from books or book-related. As I've got so many favourites, this will be a random list of ten of my favourites.

My picks are;

"For as long as she could remember, she had thought that autumn air went well with books, that the two both somehow belonged with blankets, comfortable armchairs, and big cups of coffee or tea."
(Katarina Bivald - The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommends)

"I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat."
(Edgar Allan Poe)

"A room without books is like a body without a soul."
(Cicero)

"Have you ever asked yourself, do monsters make war, or does war make monsters?"
(Laini Taylor - Daughter of Smoke and Bone)

"In the long run, the sharpest weapon of all is a kind and gentle spirit."
(Anne Frank - The Diary of a Young Girl)

“Fill your house with stacks of books, in all the crannies and all the nooks.”
(Dr Seuss)

“Rainy days should be spent at home with a cup of tea and a good book.”
(Bill Patterson)

“Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”
(Neil Gaiman)

“There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island.”
(Walt Disney)

"You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me."
(C. S. Lewis)

  1. If only Anne Frank had been allowed to live out her full lifespan. Imagine the stories she would have told!

    1. I think she could have accomplished A LOT of she had lived. Tragically, we lost a lot of potential, not only with her, but also all the others that died during World War II.

  2. I had that Neil Gaiman quote on my list this week too!
