Earlier this year, I was fortunate enough to recieve an ARC of the book Confessions of a Bookseller by Shaun Bythell, which is the sequel to Diary of a Bookseller, through Netgalley. I forbindelse med Non-Fiction Reading Challenge, endte jeg opp med å lese Hvis jeg forsvinner, ser du meg da? av Kristine Getz og i dag kommer omtalen. Beskrivelse fra forlaget Sommeren 2010 sto 27 år gamle Kristine Getz fram i et debattinnlegg i Aftenposten og fortalte om sine 10 år med spiseforstyrrelser: "Ti år med spiseforstyrrelser tilsvarer 3650 dager fylt av selvhat, selvsabotasje og skam." Vendepunktet kom da Kristine begynte å blogge. Ved å sette ord på sine innerste tanker og følelser, og ved å blottlegge seg, kunne egenterapien begynne. Kristine klarer å beskrive en spiseforstyrrelse slik at vi faktisk forstår hva denne ubegripelige sykdommen går ut på, og hva den gjør med en. Hun skriver gripende og nådeløst ærlig, og vi tror på henne når hun midt i håpløsheten forteller at hun vil bli frisk. Derfor er dette også en bok full av optimisme og livsvilje. For et par år siden var jeg såpass heldig at jeg fikk tilsendt et leseeksemplar av boka Djevelen i den hvite byen av Erik Larson fra forlaget. Jeg har til slutt somlet meg til å lese boka og i dag kommer omtalen av den. Beskrivelse fra forlaget Djevelen i den hvite byen er en skrekkelig og altoppslukende true crime om USAs første kjente seriemorder! Boken har ligget i over 350 uker på NY Times bestselgerliste, og det blir film i 2017 med Martin Scorsese i registolen og Leonardo DiCaprio i hovedrollen. Året er 1893. Chicago har fått æren av å arrangere den prestisjefylte verdensutstillingen. Ambisjonen er å overgå Paris, som fire år tidligere slo verden med undring og begeistring, ikke minst takket være Gustave Eiffels tårn. I forbindelse med Non-Fiction Reading Challenge, endte jeg opp med å lese Jesperpus - en helt spesiell katt av Aina Stormo og Katia Gjerding Wiegand og i dag kommer omtalen av boka. As it is a new year, it's also time to think about what reading challenges I want to participate in this year. I'm personally hosting a 2019 Diversity Reading Challenge , but I want to do some other challenges as well. I've often done the mistake of somewhat overestimating just how many challenges I'm capable of doing within a year, but I'll participate in some nontheless. Anyway, here's the challenges I've decided I want to participate in; 2019 Non-Fiction Reading Challenge  - my goal is to read minimum 5 non-fiction books by female authors Historical Fiction Challenge  - Victorian Reader (5 books) I might add that just to make things a bit more "difficult" for myself, I've decided that I'm only going to read books by female authors this year. It's not that it's anything wrong with male authors, but I really want to highlight female authors this year.
