Top Ten Tuesday; Books With a Scottish Setting That's NOT Outlander

It's Tuesday and perhaps time for a new Top Ten Tuesday post courtesy of That Artsy Reader Girl. As it was a bit of a free-for-all in terms of themes this week, I decided writing a top ten list of books with a Scottish setting that's NOT the Outlander series.

While I have nothing against the Outlander series, there's after all lots of books out there with a Scottish setting. And who needs Jamie Fraser when there's real Scottish men out there, sometimes even kilt-clad?

Anyway, jokes aside, here's ten books with a Scottish setting.

The Blackhouse by Peter May

Coffin Road by Peter May

A Dark So Deadly by Stuart MacBride

The Jack in the Green by Frazer Lee

Hearthstone Cottage by Frazer Lee

The Edinburgh Dead by Brian Ruckley

At the Water's Edge by Sara Gruen

The Ice Twins by S. K. Tremayne

The Cafe by the Sea by Jenny Colgan

The Bookshop on the Corner by Jenny Colgan

    1. Thank you. With the Outlander hype, I just couldn't resist. Peter May has written quite a few good books.

  3. Ha ha I enjoyed the slight shade of your title! One of my favourite Scottish set books of recent years was Frozen Charlotte by Alex Bell, it's set on the Isle of Skye and it's the perfect landscape for such a spooky book!
