Book Blogger Hop; What Books Got A Lot Of Hype, But Were A Disappointment?

It's Friday and time for a new Book Blogger Hop post, courtesy of Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. The question of the week was "What books got a lot of hype, but were a disappointment for you?".

For me, a couple of books that got a lot of hype, but were disappointments were The Fault in Our Stars by John Green and The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne. I'm sure there's people who loved those books, but I'm afraid I didn't.

  1. The Fault in Our Stars is on my TBR, though more from hearing about the film (though I haven't watched it!). The Boy is far too sad for me to even consider reading, I like my happy stories 😊

    1. The Boy is such a sad story I don't blame you for stearing away from it.

  2. We all won't like the same books, right? I liked both when I read them. Although my thoughts about Boyne's book has shifted some over time. I haven't been interested in reading any of his other work. And while I liked The Fault in Our Stars, I do think it was overhyped.

I enjoy posts like these because of how much they show how differently we can see the same books. And for those books that are highly hyped that I want to read, it helps bring down my expectations to a more realistic level. No book is loved by all.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I hope you have a great weekend. Stay safe and well.

    1. No, we won't like same books at all times, but I guess that's part of the fun in a way.
