Omtale; Korset av Ingar Johnsrud

Image
Sannhetens time er kommet. En av myndighetenes mest betrodde menn blir funnet død i en vaskehall i Oslo. Skutt i skrittet og etterlatt til lidelsen. Den kjente TV-journalisten som jaktet hans hemmeligheter forsvinner. For politietterforsker Fredrik Beier er etterforskningen personlig.

Haunted Halloween Spooktacular Book Tour; Immortal Descent by Carolyn M. Walker

Image
Truth be told, I am obsessed with all things Halloween and it is my favorite time of year! Since I was a young child, I’ve adored the idea of the one night a year when all things spooky were embraced! And Halloween is one of those times when I can just go crazy! I love food and gatherings, so decorating the house, throwing Halloween parties and enjoying all the frightfully fun things happening around town is kinda my thing! Today, I’m going to share a few of my favorite crafts and foods I love to do for beloved Halloween! Some easy crafts I do are making my own “potion” or “witches’ brew” bottles. They are easy to make and can be done with just about any glass container. For these, I used old soap dispensers, a small vase, a wine bottle, and a few corkscrew jars from the dollar store. The labels were easy to find in a set and cost about $2 from Wal-Mart. You can also make your own! Fill with water and food coloring, or whatever and boom, you’ve got yourself some great decora...

Monster Mash Countdown Blitz; Stutter Creek by Ann Swann

Image
Ann Swann was born in the small West Texas town of Lamesa. She grew up much like Stevie-girl in The Phantoms series, though she never got up the nerve to enter the haunted house.  Ann has done everything from answering 911 Emergency calls to teaching elementary school. She lives in Texas with her husband, Dude, a rescue cat named Oscar, and a part-time box turtle named Piggy.  When she’s not writing, Ann is reading. Her to-be-read list has grown so large it has taken on a life of its own. She calls it Herman. ~  Facebook  ~  Blog  ~  ~  Amazon  ~ ~  Goodreads  ~  Twitter  ~ Stutter Creek (book one) is a romance, brilliantly hidden within a suspense-filled tale of a psychotic serial killer with a chip on his shoulder. It is also a classic tale of young love lost, and a life of regrettable what-ifs. ~ Universal Amazon Link ~  ~  Publis...

Monster Mash Countdown Blitz; Before by Catina Haverlock & Angela Larkin

Image
Catina worked her way through college as a TV reporter and a dating game show host. She's a sucker for Young Adult romance stories (both real and make-believe). She has a panache for match-making and loves that many of her "set-ups" have resulted in marriages.  After spending most of her adult life in Las Vegas, Catina traded in tumbleweeds for earthquakes and now lives with her husband and four children near San Diego, California. If she's not home, chances are you can find her at the beach, Disneyland or In-N-Out Burger. Angela Larkin writes clean teen romance and is a big fan of kissing (in life and in books). She's been a gold miner, a pool cleaner, a mannequin dresser, and a teacher. She's lived a true romance: meeting her husband in a case of mistaken identity. They recently moved with their four children from the sparkling city of Las Vegas to the shade of the North Carolina Pines. Chances are, she's reading past bedtime. ...

Review; The Girl from the Coast by Pramoedya Ananta Toer

Image
I had both Literary Voyage Around The World Reading Challenge and my very own world literature in the back of my mind when I picked up The Girl from the Coast by Pramoedya Ananta Toer, who happens to be from Indonesia. Today I'll post the review of the novel. Description from Goodreads Pramoedya's The Girl from the Coast tells the story of a beautiful young woman from a fishing village who finds herself in an arranged marriage with a wealthy aristocrat. Forced to leave her parents and home behind, she moves to the city to become the 'lady' of her husband's house. Pramoedya's breathtaking literary skill is evident in every word of this book, one of his classic works of fiction made especially poignant because it is based on the life of his own grandmother. My Thoughts On The Novel Even though I suspect there was a few things that got lost in the translation, it was still a really good book. It was a critique of the feudal and inhumane pratices of the J...
