Review; My Life in Transition: A Super Late Bloomer Collection by Julia Kaye

Image
Last year I was fortunate enough to recieve a press copy of the autobiographical comic colletion My Life in Transition: A Super Late Bloomer Collection by Julia Kaye through Netgalley. Although I read it shortly afterwards, I haven't published my review until now. Description from Goodreads The follow-up to the critically acclaimed autobiographical comics collection Super Late Bloomer, documenting transgender artist Julia Kaye’s life post-transition. My Life in Transition is a story that’s not often told about trans lives: what happens beyond the early days of transition. Both deeply personal and widely relatable, this collection illustrates six months of Julia's life as an out trans woman—about the beauty and pain of love and heartbreak, struggling to find support from bio family and the importance of chosen family, moments of dysphoria and misgendering, learning to lean on friends in times of need, and finding peace in the fact that life keeps moving forward. After the nerve...

Review; Juliet Takes a Breath by Gabby Rivera

Image
Earlier this year I read the novel Juliet Takes a Breath by Gabby Rivera and today I'll post my review. Description from Goodreads Hi, my name is Juliet Palante. I've been reading your book Raging Flower: Empowering Your Pussy by Empowering Your Mind. No lie, I started reading it so that I could make people uncomfortable on the subway. But I'm writing to you now because this book of yours, this magical labia manifesto, has become my bible. Juliet's head is spinning with questions. Will her beautiful, chaotic Puerto Rican family still love her when they find out she's gay? Will an internship with her favourite author help her understand what kind of feminist she wants to be? And why won't her girlfriend return her calls?! In a summer full of queer dance parties, a fling with a motorcycling librarian and intense explorations of sexuality and identity, Juliet's about to learn what it means to really come out - to the world, to her family, to herself. My Though...

Book Recommendations; Ten Crime, Mystery and Thriller Books To Pick Up This Summer

Image
As it's summer and lots of people are in search of summer reads, I figured out I could write a couple of lists with book recommendations. First out, I wanted to write a list for those who wants to read crime, mystery and thriller books. Here's ten books I'd recommend. Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie Description from Goodreads Agatha Christie's most exotic murder mystery, reissued with a striking new cover designed to appeal to the latest generation of Agatha Christie fans and book lovers. The tranquillity of a cruise along the Nile is shattered by the discovery that Linnet Ridgeway has been shot through the head. She was young, stylish and beautiful, a girl who had everything - until she lost her life. Hercule Poirot recalls an earlier outburst by a fellow passenger: `I'd like to put my dear little pistol against her head and just press the trigger.' Yet in this exotic setting' nothing is ever quite what it seems... Down and Out in Kathmandu: Adventures...

Omtale; Skjærsild av Tina Frennstedt

Image

Review; Hurricane Child by Kacen Callender

Image
I was drawn to Hurricane Child by Kacen Callender for several reasons. One being the beautiful cover, another is that it has LGBT+ themes. I read it recently and today I'll post my review. Description from Goodreads Caroline Murphy is a Hurricane Child. Being born during a hurricane is unlucky, and 12-year-old Caroline has had her share of bad luck lately. She's hated and bullied by everyone in her small school on St. Thomas of the US Virgin Islands, a spirit only she can see won't stop following her, and -- worst of all -- Caroline's mother left home one day and never came back. Kalinda, a solemn girl from Barbados with a special smile for everyone, becomes Caroline's first and only friend -- and the person for whom Caroline has begun to develop a crush. Now, Caroline must find the strength to confront her feelings for Kalinda, brave the spirit stalking her through the isl...
