Review; Hidden Haunts: Scotland by W. J. Gilbert

As I've got a weak spot for Scotland and all things spooky, I couldn't resist buying and reading Hidden Haunts: Scotland by W. J. Gilbert for obvious reasons and today I'll post my review of this book.

Description from Goodreads
Uncovering the world's hidden hauntings, one chilling story at a time.

Hidden Scotland delves into the lesser-known ghost stories that quietly persist in the shadows of Scotland's rich supernatural history. As you turn each page, you’ll discover eerie tales often overlooked by mainstream paranormal accounts, with a focus on both Edinburgh and the broader Scottish landscape.

Embark on a journey through the haunted streets of Edinburgh’s Old Town, where sites like the Governor's House in Edinburgh Castle and Chessels Court unveil the city's dark and mysterious past. Beyond the Old Town, explore ghostly echoes in places like Craigmillar Castle, George Heriot’s School, and Royal Circus, offering a fresh and chilling perspective on Edinburgh's haunted heritage.

Venturing beyond the capital, you'll uncover spine-tingling stories from across Scotland, including the haunted ruins of Ballechin House, spectral sightings in Bearsden, and the enigmatic legends surrounding Rosslyn Chapel. Hidden Scotland is a thrilling exploration of the forgotten corners of the country's supernatural past.

My Thoughts on the Book
Hidden Haunts: Scotland was such a joy to read with the combination of historical context, storytelling, and first-hand accounts, which made it really interesting and with the historical context, I even learned a thing or two about Scottish history. History and the paranormal often go hand in hand after all.

As I've already watched/listened to the Eerie Edinburgh videos on YouTube, I remembered quite a few of the stories, but that's my "fault" in a sense. Funnily enough, I almost read some of the stories with W. J. Gilbert's voice and Scottish dialect in my head.

Overall it was a really enjoyable read with a focus on the lesser known haunts in Scotland, and also, feel free to check out that YouTube channel if you're interested.
