Challenges I've Participated In During 2017

It's the last day of 2017 and probably the time to actually summarize the results for the reading challenges I've participated in this year. I had originally planned to participate in more challenges, but due to various reasons (like blogs closing down etc) I ended up doing three challenges. I've enjoyed doing them all and if I had more time, I would probably have read a few more for the Foodies Reading Challenge, but I'm happy nontheless. Foodies Reading Challenge, Short-Order Cook (1-3 books), hosted by  Spirit Blog The Mistress of Spices av Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni Food Wars! Vol. 1 by Yuto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki Chocolat by Joanne Harris Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg LBTQIA Reading Challenge, hosted by  Book Dragon's Lair Blå er den varmeste fargen av Julie Maroh Den forhatte kroppen av Niccola Lecca Ernesto av Umberto Saba The Best Party of Our Lives: Stories of Gay Weddings and True Love to Inspire Us All av Sarah

Omtale; Skinnet bedrar av Agnes Lovise Matre

Image
Mine tanker o

Book Blogger Hop; New Year's Kiss

Image
It's the last Book Blogger Hop post of the year, thanks to  Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer  and suitably enough, the question of the week was "What character or characters would you not mind to sharing a New Year's kiss with?". Book Blogger Hop For me, there's just one answer to that; Mr. Darcy from P & P by Jane Austen (added bonus if it's Colin Firth of course). My Favourite... Thing About 2017

Image
It's Wednesday and time for this year's last My Favourite... post, thanks to  Maureen's Books  and fittingly enough, the theme of the week was "thing about 2017". A lot of nice things have happened this year, but my favourite thing is probably finishing my BA degree, majoring in English language and literature. The highlight from that is probably recieving and A for my BA thesis on Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Jae-Jones RoseBlood by A. G. Omtale; Lille Linerle av Myriam H. Bjerkli

Image

Omtale; Milk and Honey av Rupi Kaur

Image
Beskrivelse fra Goodreads milk and honey  is a collection of poetry and prose about survival. It is about the experience of violence, abuse, love, loss, and femininity. It is split into four chapters, and each chapter serves a different purpose, deals with a different pain, heals a different heartache.  milk and honey  takes readers through a journey of the most bitter moments in life and finds sweetness in them because there is sweetness everywhere if you are just willing to look. Mine tanker om boka Diktsamlinga har fire deler; the hurting, the loving, the breaking og the healing.

Review; Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg

Image
Considering that I'm participating in both LGBTQIA Reading Challenge and Foodies Read Challenge, I ended up reading Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg and now comes the review of this novel. Description from Goodreads It's first the story of two women in the 1980s, of gray-headed Mrs. Threadgoode telling her life story to Evelyn, who is in the sad slump of middle age. The tale she tells is  also  of two women -- of the irrepressibly daredevilish tomboy Idgie and her friend Ruth, who back in the thirties ran a little place in Whistle Stop, Alabama, a Southern kind of Cafe Wobegon offering good barbecue and good coffee and all kinds of love and laughter, even an occasional murder. My Thoughts On the Book Personally, I found it a heartwarming book which included themes like friendship, love and race relations through the 20th century. I might admit though, that I sometimes got a little bit hungry while reading.

My Favourite... Christmas Tradition

Image
It's Wednesday and time for a new My Favourite... post thanks to the blogger behind  Maureen's Books  and the theme of the week was Christmas tradition. I don't have that many Christmas traditions as I'm both single and childfree, but the last few years I have baked Christmas cookies, so I guess that count as a tradition.
