Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge; Favourite Books Series and Why
It's Wednesday and time for a new Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge, courtesy of Long and Short Reviews. The theme of the week is favourite books series and why.
A couple of favourite series, excluding trilogies, are Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling as I grew up with the series, in addition to The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice due to complex characters and the fact that these vampires don't sparkle.
PS. Just so we're clear, I do NOT support J. K. Rowling's anti-trans opinions.
I loved the Harry Potter series, too, and I also do not support Rowling's anti-trans opinions. :)

Nice to see I'm not the only one who's against those opinions.
DeleteBoth excellent choices. https://pmprescott.blogspot.com/2020/03/wednesday-challenge-040120.html
ReplyDeleteThank you. :-)
DeleteJ. K. Rowling is a mess these days, but she still got a generation of children to love reading, so I'll give her that. But not a whole lot more. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the Vampire Chronicles as well. Great choices this week!
My post
I'll give Rowling the credit for getting a generation of kids to read, but yeah, she's a mess these days.
DeleteGood Choices. A lot of people grew up with Harry Potter. Here's my post: https://wendizwaduk.wordpress.com/2020/04/01/favorite-book-series-with-meganslayer-books-reading/
ReplyDeleteThank you. I think a lot of us grew up with HP.
DeleteGood choices! My post is here: https://jhthomas.blogspot.com/2020/04/wednesday-weekly-blogging-challenge.html
ReplyDeleteThank you. :-)
DeleteOh, I totally agree with your choices this week. J.K. Rowling rockes! Loved Anne Rice books. You don't like sparkly vampires, imagine that. LOL Thanks for sharing. Here's mine. https://www.tenastetler.com/lsrs-wednesdays-blog-challenge-4-1-20-favorite-books-series-why/
ReplyDeleteHa, I might be a bit "old school" when it comes to vampires. :-P
DeleteBoth excellent choices (and I'm right there with you on the anti-trans issues as well). Anne Rice's later stuff is... kind of odd, too. But man, the first three are a dark miracle.
ReplyDeleteMy answer is here.
Thank you. I'm not going to deny the first books in The Vampire Chronicles are the best.
DeleteI've never read the Harry Potters, but my son did. I have, however, read nearly every single thing Anne Rice and her alter ego have written. I love her vampires and the fact that they don't sparkle either. :) Excellent choice!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment. :-) Nice to see I'm not the only one in "Camp No Sparkly Vampires".
DeleteI adore the Harry Potter series. I can still remember reading the first one and being completely charmed. I hadn't expected to enjoy it but my other half conned me into reading The Philosopher's Stone and that was the end of me.
ReplyDeleteYour other half was a smart person. :-)
