Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge; Popular/Famous Books I Don't Plan To Read

It's Wednesday and time for a new Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge post, courtesy of Long and Short Reviews. The theme of the week was popular/famous books I don't plan to read.

Some of the famous and/or popular books I have no plans on reading includes The Twilight Saga by Stephanie Meyer and The Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy by E. L. James. In my world, vampires don't sparkle and I've read and heard enough of both series/trilogies that there is the question of not-so-nice boyfriends (aka abusive ones in one way or another).

  1. I've chosen not to read those series for the exact same reason.

    My post.

  2. I read the first Twilight book and thought it was okay enough to try New Moon... which I hated. Bella was such a user... and the whole situation was weird and creepy. I guess not reading 50 Shades would follow, lol, since it started out at Twilight Fan Fic!

    1. Yeah, Fifty Shades is unfortunately Twilight fan fic.

  3. That's comical. I have both on my list for those precise reasons. Good choices.

  4. It's definitely a concensus...those are both on my list as well!

  5. I actually enjoyed Twilight. New Moon, however, completely put me off the series forever.

    E. L. James... well, after reading Jenny Trout's recaps, who needs to read the books?

  6. I echo the sentiment about Twilight. I grew up with a different kind of Vampire.
I think I got a quarter of the way through 50 Shades just from morbid curiosity before I gave up and went back to Terry Pratchett.

    1. In my world, vampires don't sparkle, so I don't blame you for disliking Twilight.

  7. Rented the audio of Twilight for my daughter on a road trip. She was crazy about the movie. After fifteen minutes she asked to switch to another book. Didn't do that with the Harry Potters.

  8. I did read these, I'm afraid, though I prefer my vampires less sparkly.

    1. Thank you. Finally someone else who thinks that vampires shouldn't sparkle, at least not in the Edward Cullen way.
