Let's Talk Bookish; Favourite Romance Tropes & Book Recs For Them
It's Friday, which means it's probably time for another Let's Talk Bookish post courtesy of Book Nook Bits and Dinipanda Reads. As it's Valentine's Day today, the topic is favourite romance tropes and book recs for them.
Here's the further prompts for today's post.
Happy Valentine’s Day! What are your favorite romance tropes? What books would you recommend that have those tropes? Are there any books with those tropes on your TBR? Do you have any least favorite romance tropes?
I have to admit I'm not one of those that reads that many romance novels, aside from picking up one here and there whenever I need something really light, but I do appreciate the tropes of small town(s), opposite attracts, he falls first, and grumpy x sunshine, among others. Oh, I also like it when the bloke protects his girl/woman. The only one in my TBR that I can think of that fits some of these, is The Cinnamon Bun Bookstore by Laurie Gilmore. One of my least favourite romance tropes is love triangle, as it's more often than not a love corner than anything else (and me sitting there having a proper "decide for one of them, damn it!").
Although I'm mainly focusing on paranormal and horror on this blog, I'll list a few book recommendations, some with paranormal elements and some "regular" ones, and the majority of them have at least one of my favourite tropes in one way or another.
- The Vampire Knitting Club series by Nancy Warren
- The Slaughtered Lamb Bookstore and Bar by Seana Kelly
- Wooing the Farmer by Jenny Frame
- The Pumpkin Spice Café by Laurie Gilmore
- The Bookshop on the Corner by Jenny Colgan
Feel free to let me know if you've read any of the books I've mentioned and what you think of them.
